May be not a win, but what a weekend! After being 4 times European Champion its time to give someone else to hold that crown! This year I finished 5th overall in AWD class! Gymkhana Grid 2016 was the biggest and greatest to date with 55 drivers between 2 classes and I qualified in middle having issues with antilag on Saturday.
Then on Sunday I broke 2 driveshafts in priceless practice session in the morning and managed to do only few runs in afternoon just before the main event to kick inn. After the knockout battles started, I won my Top 16 battle against Jake Archer, I guess that it all was about that! We both been at Grid since it began 5 years ago and particularly today I was more worried about race against him, rather than anyone else.
Then after going through to the quarter final, I was placed against Ken Block, but unfortunately, with all the problems dropped on me that weekend I can only say, that I had not enough practice runs due to a number of issues, which limited my ability to progress in lap times. So during the quarter final battle with Ken Block, I simply got lost on track after exiting one of the obstacles and didn't see where to go with another major factor of being very dark and projector lights around the track did not help me to orientate the needed direction because all our practice runs was during the daylight, which made the track look completely different from what it was under the lights at night.. (another lesson learned).. And then on second lane against Block I was only a fraction behind. Well done Mr.Gymkhana! Hope we be back to do some hooning again soon!
Congratulations to Petter Solberg for taking the WiN ! You MR. PS1 were flying all weekend, very deserved! I was enjoying watching many times World Champion to smash the lap times in so perfection, that it was no doubt he had everything to win this event!
So, thats a wrap for Grid 2016. Thanks to all guys at SCR team for support and especially those coming all the way to Greece ( Dan, Joe, Daniel, Claudia and Adam)..
Thanks to Paul, Jay, Rimvi, Sergej, Olga, Anastasios for the help and involvement and Nik at Toyo Greece for the awesome Toyo tent, which made our paddock look great! Thanks to all my friends and supporters, who traveled from far away to support me!
Thanks to Monster Energy for the opportunity to race against the best and thanks to everyone involved!
Congratulations to all podium takers especially Luke Woodham for taking the win in RWD class, as even me being to leave the track near midnight, Luke still was there making the changes to his car setup to get that very needed grip! Just well done!
Thanks to all the visitors who were absolutely amazing and gave so much love to us drivers by cheering at every outing!
